No Joke - Obama is Truly Scary

This is all getting so insane. It's terrifying. What's the Obama campaign doing?

Is the country supposed to shut down because Obama is calling a work strike for his supporters - for the sake of winning? This man is really scaring me more and more every day. If this is the control he is having right now - I'm really scared about the things he will push as president.

I can't trust him.

At the very least, he's a salesman making empty campaign promises for things he can't fulfill because there is no money to do it with. I don't like that, but I could endure it if that were the only thing to be concerned about.

But I am concerned about more. He says he's going to "change" not only America, but the entire world. That makes him pretty scary. I kind of doubt that every country wants him to be their president; to take a leadership roll in the direction their country goes or laws their country passes. (although it seems several would love to see him as a world leader.)

But what makes it particularly scary is that it appears that he really does think he has the power to change to the world. The power to change people. But half of us, and many in the world, don't want him to change us. So...there would be only one way to make his opponents submit to his vision. Many dictators, intent on making changes their opponents don't like, have used scary methods to make those changes.

I do fear a man who is comfortable around people that are comfortable with murder. I do fear a man that talks about changing America and changing the world, although half of America doesn't believe the way he does on the issues. How will he change the half of America that opposes him? How will he change the minds and behavior of me, my family and our friends?

Either "change" in America is an empty campaign promise, or he intends to hurt me. Not sure what form that hurt will take or if it will take more than one form. But that's the way I perceive it.

He's a really scary person.

Jesus Christ said "turn the other cheek." Turn the other cheek means accept all criticisms and even physical abuse without giving rise to even ONE thought of anger, negativity or malice. Obama epitomizes this. Never once (never ONCE) has he lost his temper in response to the gross exaggerations, slander and attacks on his character. Obama has not been even remotely vague about how he plans to go about change, and I can't say that the money you're going to receive from his presidency is going to "hurt" you. It MATTERS to actually have intellect if you're going to apply for the biggest job on the planet! Sarah Palin doesn't even know how to answer a pretty easy question like "what political magazines did you read." To call her "our Princess Di" is to completely misunderstand Princess Di and to spit on her grave. I'm sorry, but it's true. Half the country disagrees with Obama? Is that why 100,000 people show up regularly to his rallies while 1,500 show up to McCain's? It's simple math. Obama will win with the greatest landslide since your precious Reagan. There are MANY reasons (MANY) why prominent republicans (Eisenhower!) are endorsing Obama. It's time to bring back adult behavior. It's time to bring back humanity and respect and yes, time to lead by example, time to "turn the other cheek." McCain's spoon-fed lies that you believe and that have nothing (NOTHING!) to do with the economy or any of the issues actually effecting Americans (like yourself) are not a good reason to vote for him. He's going to lose. Civil unrest isn't going to happen. The United States is growing up. I know, it hurts. But it's also the Christian thing to do. To BEHAVE. To have MANNERS. To TURN THE OTHER CHEEK. And yes, to LOVE YOUR ENEMIES. The world is not as dangerous as you think. Obama exhibits the best behavior ever on display by a candidate running for office. And by the way, George W. Bush seemed to ALWAYS be comfortable around people who were comfortable with murder. Rumsfeld, Cheney, himself . . . Think about Jesus when you vote. John McCain, I completely assure you, will be rotting in hell once he dies. He does not behave like a Christian. He is an entitled, self-important, opportunist who crashed three planes, actually gave info in Vietnam, divorced his wife he ALWAYS cheated on, and the Reagans DESPISED him, as did Barry Goldwater. He's probably the worst choice in history. Oh wait, that was Bush. Oh, WAIT! That's Palin. You better pray they don't steal this election. THAT will bring on civil unrest. The fact that Obama is going to win in a landslide victory of at least 311 electoral college votes shows that, again, we are GROWING as a country. Obama will display his good manners as he leads, regain the world's respect of our (once) great country, and probably even change the minds of naysayers like yourself by his kindness. It's the Christlike way to behave. Thank you for your time, and God bless you. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for writing. I appreciate your thoughts.

First, President Eisenhower is dead.

Then, I do see though where Senator Obama has responded in anger toward some of the major papers that have endorsed Senator McCain, as well as media stations that have voiced the questions many of us Americans are asking. for the Obama campaign to react toward the Florida reporter that was asking Senator Biden the very questions I wanted answers to was wrong. She was doing her job and I was grateful that as least one news source was doing it.

Thanks again for writing. Bless you as well.

Good evening, lisa.

I'm not sure what Karl meant by Eisenhower, but everything else is spot on.

Perhaps you should look at that Florida reporter's questions to Sen. McCain when he was on the show the week before. She spent most of the time asking him how he was going to beat Obama. Not exactly non-biased. Plus her husband is a McCain campaigner. To anyone who has paid attention to Obama's campaign, her questions were ridiculously partisan, which may be why you liked them.

Look, Bush is the one who has decided the US can operate outside of international law whenever the "commander in chief" of the US military sees fit. If you are so concerned about the American president not lording over the world, doesn't it bother you to vote for the Republican party that supported Bush? Why not vote for a third party, if you are really committed to your ideals? Do you really think John McCain is less likely to continue those same renegade policies of preemptive war and violating national sovereignty than Obama? You know both will. McCain supports Bush policies, and Obama talks tough about attacking inside Pakistan, which would set off open war and possibly a civil war inside Pakistan.

BTW, I am not voting Democrat but for a third party. I think both parties are too eager to support the super-rich and hurt the average American when they see fit. I think the only hope for America lies in getting more parties on the ticket. Obama's reliance on massive amounts of advertising money, in particular, bothers me. I don't care if the average donation is small--I think there should be a limit on campaign spending. McCain's support of the Bush Doctrine and flip-flopping on torture (frankly, in the event of a national security emergency, torture could be done secretly--that would be more effective as a strategy of US power instead of "revealing" what we are willing to do to the world) also bothers me. I put myself in the shoes of an American soldier being captured and being haunted by the fact that, if they torture me, they are only doing unto others as they have done unto you.

I believe Karl was referring to Susan Eisenhower (who has endorsed Sen Obama)- granddaughter of Gen. Dwight D Eisenhower (a conservative Republican). I also believe that the rest of Karl's comments generally reflect how many Christians in this country feel - that Bush and the GOP have hijacked Christianity - basic morals and values have been manipulated. For example, our Christian duty to help the poor - this has become 'too liberal', and now, 'socialism'. How sad.

Matthew 19:23-24

Thanks for your note. It is sad that Eisenhower's daughter chose to do that, but our children don't always grow up believing as we do. My grandfather was the author of the book, "Eisenhower Speaks." He, of Jewish descent, wrote it some time after emigrating/escaping from Hitler's Germany in the late 1930's. I am fascinated by his respect for Eisenhower.

But I am, and was raised, Christian. While it may be true that many Christians feel that President Bush "hijacked" Christianity, many others do not. Many conservative Christians don't believe that it is government that is supposed to be helping the poor, but instead, it is the church's and individual's job.

We, along with various conservative churches I have been part of, make time and effort to personally help others. I've raised my kids, (four of whom weren't mine nor my husband's birth children), to volunteer when possible. helping elderly people clean their yards, chop wood, can food. They began singing at nursing homes when they were small.

We've donated money, food, clothing and time directly to people of all ages and need. We've taken so many people into our home that the walls have been bursting (eighteen people at one point). In Western Montana where we did most of our raising of the kids, giving and helping is the norm, and Christians we spent time with felt strongly that it was up to them, not the government, to lend a hand.

One of my relatives, a democrat, feels as you do. He does believe high taxes are the right way to take care of our needy neighbors. But in his eighty years of life, he would never dream of stopping and helping a stranger personally on the street. It's too dangerous. I'm not saying that you feel that way as well. But there are many that do.

We just see it differently.

Thanks for writing.

It's great that you and your family have aided those less fortunate - I commend you, God bless! However, it's interesting that you leave the responsibility of caring for the poor to 'churches and individuals', essentially separating 'church' and 'state' responsibility. Can you see this from another perspective - The rightwing beats their drum about how there should NOT be separation of church and state, yet when convenient, proclaim there SHOULD be separation. Changing the message to suit the arguement ('fundamentals of the economy are strong' to 'economic crisis' OR singing GWB's praises to denouncing GWB) is why you'll find so many frustrated Americans deciding on Barack Obama for POTUS this year.

Again, I think there's been too much generalizing about groups of people during this campaign. Many people have been prefacing their statements with "liberals" and "you conservatives" and "you fundamentals" etc.

We all know that America is much more diverse than that. Just because we have two major candidates doesn't mean we have only two distinct groups of people supporting them.

There are many conservative fundamentals that agree with you wholeheartedly on separation of church and state. There are many ultra-conservatives that won't be voting for either major candidate this election as they feel they are both too liberal.

So when addressing each other, it doesn't help to point fingers and tell the other what you assume they are supposed to believe and stand for. We are all very different.

Thanks for your good comments.

I have to agree, this man is very, VERY scary and if you don't think so, you probably need to wake up in a hurry or the day may come sooner than you think that you won't wake up at all.

And Karl, wow dude, this country wasn't established by people who were door mats, grow a backbone!

As for helping the poor, I wonder how many could have been helped by all that money spent on unscrupulous campaigning, hmmmmmmmm, while they are living big many others are barely living.. forget redistribution..unless it is redistribution of campaign funds for a greater purpose than a lying contest.

Don't waste your vote on the wicked, vote 3rd party.

lisa,

How can a person of your background and obvious compassion not be impressed by Sen. Obama?

He came from a broken family situation that would have been disastrous for most kids. His mixed race could not have been easy for him as a child in the 1960's. He overcame obstacles and showed a variety of good personal characteristics as a child while excelling in school. Just getting to college would have been outstanding for most kids with his background but he went far beyond and ended up graduating from Harvard. I think.

After graduating he did not take the lucrative jobs he was offered and instead went into social work to assist those less fortunate than himself. I think that's how he met Michelle, the daughter of a Chicago utility company worker.

His choice of a marriage mate and his family life have been totally without a blemish. He seems to be a great father to his little girls.

Yet, you seem to paint Obama as some sort of monster who wants to take over the world. It just seems not logical from a person of your background.

Getting into politics was probably the only thing that can be held against him. As they say "politics makes strange bedfellows" and he is no different in that respect.

But except for getting captured and being a POW, McCain's life has been far, far more suspect than has Obama's but you are probably aware of those facts.

Yet you overlook McCain's obvious faults while attacking Obama.

It's just quite curious to me.

Hi Lisa,
It's obvious that your blog has been targeted by Obama trolls who extol the praises of "THE ONE" as if he were God!
Karl evidently never heard of Alice Palmer. Just ask her about Obama. She was running against Obama for the state Senate. Obama sued her and the others in the primary race and got their voter petitions thrown out for technicalities. It was mostly blacks who signed those petitions.
Obama knows how to look good, but it doesn't matter how good people look. Look at their actions.
In his senate race, his Democratic opponent in the primary, and his Republican opponent in the final race both crashed and burned when their private divorce records, which had been sealed, were mysteriously leaked to the public, just in time so that they would lose their races.
Obama is deceiving people and the comments you're getting on your blog are proof positive.
